Watches and Wonders Geneva, also known as WWG, has been underway for a few weeks now. WOW Singapore devotes a large part of its pages to 2024’s new watches. How is this issue different from what you may have seen so far on LUXUO?

It’s true, we published our interview with Benoit de Clerck, Zenith’s new CEO, just as the Summer edition was going to print. This story is almost identical to the print version, though we have managed to add more images online. It is impossible to say the same about our coverage of WWG, or any novelties that emerge from it (or are released concurrently). WOW Singapore’s report on WWG and Geneva Watch Week is very different from our coverage of WWG. You could say that the whole issue is dedicated to the fair, but not only in terms of the new coverage. It’s fine for news, not so much for a specialist title like WOW. What we want to know is the hows, the whys and all the other associated things.
A global launch of any product class will have a lot of meaning. Consider the CES in Las Vegas with Apple’s keynote. The watches of 2024, therefore, will be viewed through the lense of one of the worst months of exports for the Swiss watch sector. This was followed by an amazing recovery. In this issue we will answer some of the questions that arise, as well as continue our special on precious metals.
We will continue to cover this topic in Autumn, even though we have already spent more than 30 pages in the Summer Issue. This is the shortest summary possible: watches become more expensive and exclusive, prices go up but value? That remains to see. This is bad news for those who are interested in investing. Then again, maybe not…
In the 15th episode of The Conversation we take up this discussion, as well as some other speculations about WWG or GWW. Daniel Goh from World of Watches Malaysia will be a permanent fixture in this segment. Ruckdee and I are also expected to join him. The story is often shared online and could one day be a real forum if you ask me. But that is about the undefined future…
This issue is devoted to timeless topics, such as the final story on the counterfeit watch phenomenon and the most exciting novelties for 2024. What we think are the most important pieces. In that vein, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Skipper featured on our cover is undoubtedly one of the most important pieces.
This, ladies, gentlemen, was a fair summary of your issue. Have fun reading!
