Dubai’s ambitious goal to double the contribution of the creative industries to its GDP by 2026 under the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy, involves not only doubling the number of creative companies and creators in the emirate but also highlighting the immense significance of World Art Dubai’s contribution to this thriving creative economy. The World Art Dubai exhibition is a keystone to achieving these goals. It draws thousands of visitors and showcases the work of over Dubai’s 300 artists and galleries From around the world, you will find a variety of artworks ranging from digital art to fashion art.

WAD is more than an art fair. It’s a cultural phenomenon. In 2024, WAD will be able to increase its numbers. It will showcase a diverse range of over 4,000 works from over 65 countries, and expect over 15,000 attendees. Speaking on behalf of the 54-strong artist collective representing JAPAN PROMOTION Gallery, Momoko Ishikawa said: “We are honored to represent the Japan booth showcasing groups of Japanese artists. Our exhibition features contemporary art as well as artworks using traditional techniques. These pieces are unique and not available anywhere else in Dubai. At the Taimei Gallery booth, a significant focus will be on artworks using the ‘maki-e’ technique. Maki-e has been used by nobility since its inception around 1200 years. It is characterized as a serene beauty, which emerges when the natural shades of the materials are combined with the deep luster lacquer and the brilliance gold and Silver.
“The creation process is incredibly delicate and time-consuming, achievable only by craftsmen with high levels of skill and extensive experience. Prosperity Japan’s booth will present framed works and tapestries utilizing the ‘nishijin-ori’ weaving technique, which has a history of over 1000 years. This technique uses silk threads dyed in different colors to weave patterns. It produces a fabric that has a three dimensional feel and changes color with the lighting. While traditionally used for kimono fabrics, its beauty and high fidelity in pattern reproduction have been reimagined in art pieces.”
