The Okavango Delta was breathtaking as I stepped out of the helicopter. This was a place of visual harmony, where dreams and reality met. My journey in Botswana with andBeyond had begun. I was about embark on an exciting adventure that would bring out the 8-year-old in me and let him live out his Indiana Jones and Jungle Book dreams.

The first breathtaking moment arrived quickly. As our safari vehicle approached an isolated thicket of trees, a pride of majestic lions emerged out from the shadows. The golden fur of these majestic creatures gleamed in the African sunlight. I couldn’t believe that I was so close. Their soft roars echoed through the wild, and I will never forget that memory.

The surprises never stopped. Perched in the lush foliage of my room, I looked out to a private plunge-pool that overlooked the Delta. As if guardian spirit of the wild, a group elephants gracefully walked past. I watched in silent wonder, feeling as if I had a front-row seat to an intimate gathering of Earth’s most majestic beings.

Safari journeys can be honest conversations between the adult you and your inner-child. As I ventured deeper into the wilderness, I saw hippos with their young, their bulbous forms gently gliding through the delta’s channels. Zebras raced in the wind with their black and whitish stripes creating an enchanting pattern. Cheetahs followed them. It was as though I had stepped inside a storybook and lived the stories of my childhood.

But it wasn’t just the wildlife that left me in awe. The Okavango Delta was awash with deep orange sunsets, which painted the sky in vibrant and breathtaking colors. It was as if the heavens themselves were putting on a show, a daily reminder of nature’s unparalleled artistry.

My home on this trip was andBeyondSandibe, a beautiful lodge that blended seamlessly with the surrounding natural environment. The architecture was inspired by the pangolin. It was a harmonious blend of African authenticity and contemporary design. The rooms, reminiscent of weaver’s nests, were nestled in the treetops, providing panoramic views of the delta. I felt like an eyrie perched high up in the trees, my personal observatory to view the wild.

Our guides led us on some of the most memorable game drives. The guides’ deep knowledge of the area and their ability to track animals added an extra layer of excitement to the experience. Every outing felt like a treasure hunt, with each encounter revealing a new and captivating chapter of the delta’s story.

The warm welcome of the staff and the chefs is what truly sets andBeyond sandibe apart. I was treated not just as a guest, they made me feel like part of the family. The hospitality they provided and their love of the natural world was evident in each smile and dish that they prepared. The atmosphere was homely, even in the middle wilderness.

In this land full of visual wonders where our memories are shaped by what we observe, andBeyondSandibe was an amazing work of art of sound, sight and sensation. The adventure I had was one that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I urge every traveler, storyteller and adventurer to visit Botswana andBeyondSandibe. This, without a doubt, must be on everyone’s bucket list. I am a seasoned world traveler and can say with confidence that andBeyondSandibe is one of my top five destinations to visit. It’s a place where the line between reality and dreams blurs, where the spirit of adventure thrives, and where the wild calls to the inner child in all of us.
