The Goldsmiths’ Company has announced the appointment of Jos Skeates as a new member of its Court of Assistants.
Skeates was chosen for his experience in the commercial, social, and environmental sectors, as well as his contribution to the goldsmithing trade.
Equivalent to a non-executive board, the Court of Assistants is the company’s governing body, and has overall responsibility for the company’s affairs.
Skeates, the founder and managing Director of E.C.One, a jeweller that has won numerous awards for its work.
He completed his apprenticeship with The Goldsmiths’ Company and then undertook a degree in Jewellery Design at Central St. Martins.
He served as chairman of the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council and as a member of the Goldsmiths’ Company’s Membership Committee.
Charles Mackworth-Young, prime warden, said: “I would like to extend Jos a very warm welcome to the Court of Assistants. He has a wealth experience and played a key role in the Company’s management and how we support the jewellery and silversmithing trade. I look forward to working with him on areas such as improving our social impact, sustainability and attracting more people from the trade and craft into our membership.”
