Oliver Cloutier Interiors The company is pleased to announce a new developer partnership with an exciting Denver, Colorado project. The Carlyle, a 7,500 square foot masterpiece that will be named The Carlyle in Bonnie Brae Park soon has begun construction and is on track to be completed.
You may wonder how a developer located thousands of miles from the home base of Oliver Cloutier Interiors in Fort Lauderdale, Florida managed to do it. The developer’s project began with an interesting concept. He wanted to create a custom art deco modern home on a gorgeous piece of land that overlooked a residential park. Art Deco experts were needed to help realize this idea. The bespoke firm, which is located among the most iconic art-deco buildings in America was selected after a lengthy search.

Oliver Cloutier was involved in the project from the start, when it entered the early architectural design phase. The team’s expertise was used to select not only the usual background finishes for the home, but also to design all the custom cabinetry. The experts were given the task of designing two working kitchens as well as a mudroom and a walk-up bar that divides the room. They also designed the vanity for the powder room, the vanity in the master bathroom, the vanity in the master closet, all guest bathrooms, and the vanity for the powder room. Three fireplace features, a recreation room’s bar, and a wine display with a tasting area were also requested to be conceptualized and designed exclusively for the Carlyle. Each design is unique.

“We knew we had to begin with a distinct yet simple palette”, according to Shawn Michael Graves. As a foundation, the classic look of barely-white plaster, French oak flooring, and black marmor was selected. The millwork finishes were cerused oak, smoked oak, and iron ore. Standard fireboxes were replaced with long linear fireplaces. In the case of the Master Bedroom’s fireplace, the 11 ft wide feature will be flanked floor to ceiling in fluted white lacquer millwork centering on a white Italian marble feature wall housing the linear fireplace. The base of the structure is a leather-finished basalt stone ledge. The master bathroom was finished with white marble and fluted millwork.

The main staircase would always be spiral. Oliver Cloutier was able to bring it to life for the developer. “Our concept was simple. A French plaster structure with a sweeping and elegant design would surround the French oak staircase. It needed to feel organic yet powerful”, said Shawn Michael Graves, founder of Oliver Cloutier Interiors.

Upon seeing the abilities of the firm in action, the developer asked for help with the Carlyle’s front door. He wanted a design that would capture the essence and style of the Carlyle. The team decided that the dark mahogany door should be stained in mink and have an oculus at its centre, made up of concentric rings and rays in different textures of opaque art glass. The mosaic floor inlay, designed by the company, repeats the theme of geometric shapes and includes a large circle centerpiece to enhance the power of oculus.
All decorative light fixtures have been carefully selected for your home. Each deco-inspired piece required finishes of blackened metal, darkened Bronze, French Plaster, and, of course, a little bit of Crystal. Oliver Cloutier Interiors believes that a home’s decorative light fixtures are its jewelry.

Carlyle, which is scheduled to be completed by the Denver community in the first quarter of 2024 has already caused a stir. Oliver Cloutier Interiors feels honored to be a part of this upcoming success.
