Watch fairs are funny things – are we most interested in a show like the LVMH Watch Week for the experience or for the new watches? The new watches could include the Hublot MP-10 or Bulgari Bulgari Bulgari – the only watch that we are aware of which makes you say the brand’s name three times. What about a return to a classic? The Carerra Chronograph dato for TAG Heuer, and the Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar from Zenith are both examples. The independent collector and enthusiast will celebrate the return of Daniel Roth and Gerald Genta brand names.
Watches and Wonders Geneva, the Watches and Wonders Geneva show that the LVMH Group organized to promote its new watches as a year opener is not a good way to evaluate the latest trends for the year. Even the list of watches we recited isn’t something to take lightly. It makes us want to attend the Miami Show in person. Miami was too far away for us to attend the 2024 season opener because it was too close to Geneva. To give you some context, Hublot TAG Heuer and Zenith will all be exhibiting at Watches and Wonders. Some (if not all), of them, will also be sharing their key talking points with the later fair.
We are focusing on the watches in this short note. The order of the watches is not the same as the one we listed, but we want to start with the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System Titanium. The word salad represents all the special features of the watch: Hublot has completely redesigned the automatic winding mechanism and done away with dials, hands and the entire movement. The MP-10, which we will discuss in greater detail later, uses its movement as a way to display time.

The winding system is perhaps the most important thing to talk about. Hublot’s watchmakers have set the winding rotor to one side here, relying instead on the force generated by the white gold blocks that move freely around the vertical axis. The result may be one of most striking watches in recent times, especially at the LVMH Fair.
Bulgari is a brand with a completely different flavor. This watch will be celebrating 50 years. The th birthday in 2025, and it is perhaps one of the last of Genta’s seminal designs of the 1970s. Bulgari Bulgari has been so popular that it is available in two new sizes. The 38 mm automatic (calibre BVL 190) and the 26 mm quartz models are both brand-new this year. Everything else about the Bulgari Bulgari remains the same, other than the size.

This year, TAG Heuer is playing up to its strengths and Zenith plays to theirs. The teal green Carrera Chronograph was called the Dato, but it is not the name. Although this is a modern reference to Carrera Chronographs it will follow the same naming system as all other Carrera Chronographs. The Dato reference was meant to put you in mind of the 1968 Heuer Carrera 45 Dato, so-named for its distinctive date at 9 o’clock. Now the date has returned (there are multiple date positions on the Carrera), and the chronograph now shows only one register and no running seconds. Calibre Th20-07 comes with a vertical clutch that is attached to its column wheel. This allows you to safely continue the chronograph second if desired.
Finally, the Zenith Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar throws a lot of information at the wearer – or any onlooker really. The El Primero calibre is not just an automatic chronograph, but also has a triple calendar. The brand produced triple calendar watches with moon phase indicators using the El Primero movements in 1970, a year after the launch the chronograph movement. Zenith says today that it took 55 years for this watch to be developed, but in 2014 the 410 Triple Calendar Moon Phase Chronograph was available.

This report concludes the initial report about the LVMH Watch Week novelty items, which was written ahead of the fair through disclosure-protected release. When we do have the chance to touch and feel the real deals, we will have more of a story to tell about all these highlights – and the many more we have not got to (yet).
