It can be difficult to decide which style of sunglasses will suit your face. Luckily, there are plenty of options available. Vera Wang Eyewear designer Laura Howard She has shared her tips on how to choose the best sunnies that suit your face shape and just in time for summer.
While we don’t believe in putting ourselves in a stylistic box, we do like to find shapes that enhance our features and allow our personal, unique style to shine through! Your face may fall into a couple of different shapes and that’s okay! You should be aware of this when experimenting with different frames. There are five main face shapes, including Oval, Square and Round.
Tip #1: For Oval Faces
Due to the balance between the forehead, cheekbones and chin, most ovals will fit many face shapes. A wider or oversized frame is your friend! VW Frames recommended – Ayanna
Tip 2: For Square Faces
It may look cool to have a square frame, but a round or an oval one will soften any angular features. Find a frame slightly wider than the width of your cheekbones.
VW Frames recommended – Ling, Selwyn
Tip 3: For Round Faces
Add some angles to a baseline with a similar width. The sharpness of a frame with a bold feature such as a rectangular or a cat-eye is enhanced by clean lines. VW Frames recommended – V606, V492
For Diamond Faces
A face with all angles is rare! A thick brow-line, such as one with a horn rim, would draw attention to your cheekbones and still be soft for the rest. The oval or rectangle is a great choice. VW Frames recommended – Taraji, V609
Tip 5 – For Heart Faces
Many glasses will fit this face shape, just like the oval. Aviators are a great option as they are slightly larger near the forehead, and then start to round off at the bottom so that you don’t overwhelm your cheekbones. VW Frames recommended – Rabia, Demitria
