Hallmarking dropped by 3.5% in November, from last month’s 896,622 to 865,515, according to new data from the Birmingham Assay Office.
Despite the overall decrease, the number gold pieces hallmarked has increased 4.9%. It is now 405,935, compared to 387058.
This was mainly due to a 10.4% increase in the number of 375-gold pieces from 232 810 hallmarked up until 257 018.
Silver was the most affected by this decline, with a drop of 11.1%, from 477 285 to 424 130.
Silver 925 was the main culprit, with a drop of 12.4%, as it had 414 357 pieces last month, compared to 472,864 this time.
Platinum increased 9.3% from 32.037 to 35.011, and palladium increased 81.4%, from 242 to 449.
