The incredibly popular H. Moser & Cie Perpetual Calendar returns in a totally new iteration that is limited to 20 pieces, the Pioneer Perpetual Calendar Concept MD Purple Enamel Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition. The slew special editions that are coming to Singapore in celebration of the 70th anniversary has piqued our interest.Th Sincere Fine Watches celebrated its 50th birthday on March 15, 2018. This event is significant for watch lovers and collectors. The Pioneer Perpetual Calendar Concept MD Purple Enamel Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition is also of great interest, and not only because H. Moser & Cie happen to make a totally original sort of perpetual calendar. The brand chose a Grand Feu dial for this exclusive model. It is beautiful, but also technically demanding.
The Pioneer Perpetual Calendar Concept MD Purple Enamel Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition uses the HMC 808 manual winding, which is a tried and tested in-house mechanical movement. The watch can run for at least seven days with a full wind. It also features the low-key calendar display (as seen here) and is easily adjustable. In fact, these features are so recognizable that – alongside the fumé dial – the watch can only be a H. Moser & Cie. No brand name is necessary, and there is none on the dial, which is also a H. Moser & Cie hallmark and something the brand typical signals with the word Concept. It’s a delight to see the dial in purple, which is text-free except for the +/- power reserve indicator.
Once you find out how the dial is made, you’ll agree that we are right. This texture is created by the gold plate, which was meticulously engraved in order to look like hammered iron. The base is coated with fine mineral particles, as well as the pigments and water. This is similar to applying glaze on pastry. This base is then heated in a kiln to a precise temperature, resulting in the dial. The engraved base is a difficult task because raw materials need to be applied evenly. If the artisans aren’t careful, the dial could crack during the firing process. Each dial must be fired in the kiln between 10 and 12 times to achieve the signature fumé effect. H. Moser & Cie have left it to our imagination to wonder how many dials were sacrificed in the making of the 20 Pioneer Perpetual Calendar Concept MD Purple Enamel Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition watches.
The last thing to consider is the Pioneer-style case. The result is a dial that has been made by hand and combines it with a sports case. The 18-carat titanium case with black DLC treatment and a 42.8mm diameter is water-resistant up to 120 meters. DLC treatment highlights the Pioneer signature vertical grooves in the titanium area on the middle of the case. There is the usual exhibition caseback, which features the 70Th It has the anniversary logo of Sincere engraved in it. You can clearly see all the features of the perpetual-calendar movement, such as the leap-year indicator. The Pioneer collection is also represented here with the SuperLuminova-filled open-worked hands and the leap year indicator.
