I took a girls’ trip to Miami with three of my friends. This was our first trip to Miami for most of us. For me, this is my third time in Miami and my first time taking on Miami Beach as a girls’ trip. Last time I visited Miami, it was with my husband almost 8 years earlier. It feels like I’m experiencing it for the first time.
Traveling during COVID
Even though it has been 2 years since COVID, the travel, dining, and hotel industry have changed dramatically. When we travel to Miami, I can tell you that a mask must be worn at the airport, in the plane and in the majority of public places. Here’s what you should know about traveling during the pandemic from my experience:
- Arrive on time
- Airports and other public places require masks
- In flight, a mask is required
- Take hand sanitizers, disinfectant sprays and wipes with you when traveling
- Clean your tray and armrest in flight
- Always keep a pocket-sized sanitizer on you.

What To Do When You Are Looking For A Place To Stay
There are many hotels in Miami, but my friends and I stayed at Fontainbleau Miami Hotel during our last spring break. Situated on oceanfront Collins Avenue in the heart of Millionaire’s Row, Fontainebleau Miami Beach is one of the most historically and architecturally significant hotels in Miami Beach, Florida. The spacious suites and guest rooms at the oceanfront resort make for a memorable stay.
You can also stay at a few other hotels, such as the Hotel South Beach. It’s a quaint, stylish boutique hotel that has a cozy and easygoing vibe. It’s definitely one of the hidden gems I found in Miami to stay in.
You can also stay at the Grand Beach Hotel Surfside which has a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean and the white sandy beach. It also offers a spectacular sunset over Miami. Or you can choose the tropical and trendy East Miami Hotel.
Brunch in the City
We had our brunch at this retro-vibe diner called Big Pink on Collins Ave. There’s a huge, wide selection of menus that you can choose from, and this place is popular for brunch. A friend of mine from Miami recommended the Little Hen, located in Midtown Miami. It’s famous for its English-inspired breakfast and Brunch boutique and its flowery archway. This place is perfect for brunch because of its dreamy vibe.
Where to have dinner
One of the 5 exciting things you can do while you’re on your Miami Vacation is to explore their wide selection of delicious dining options that you can try out! On our first night in Miami, we had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, Scarpetta. It’s an authentic Italian cuisine restaurant and if you’re thinking of trying this place up, you might want to dress in your finest as the atmosphere gives out a luxurious feeling. We dined in Brickell at the Komodo Restaurant on our second evening. Both dinner experiences were good. Komodo won us over with its hospitality, the food, and the ambiance. Although it might seem expensive, the experience was definitely worth it.
What To Buy
What would a holiday be without some shopping? Miami Design District is where you can find all your favorite luxury brands and shops. This is a neighborhood that offers a variety of activities, including dining, shopping, and experiencing contemporary art, design, and events. The Miami Design District has 120 flagships stores including Balenciaga Hermes Fendi Dior Louis Vuitton and more. Prepare to spend big in the Miami Design District.
